Plans for Landmark Center in Jackson
Dr. Hickman Johnson, Executive Director of MS Regional Housing Authority No. VI, recently spoke to Jackson news station WLBT regarding prospective plans for the Landmark Center in Downtown Jackson, Mississippi.
Now under the MRHA6 portfolio, Mr. Johnson expresses his hopes of how eight years of previously unrealized plans can now come to fruition. He explains that regional housing developments have the means to use bonds, tax credits, and other sources that may not be available to private development firms.
Dr. Johnson has worked on several affordable housing sites in Mississippi with BGC Advantage, including a $12M joint venture with the city of Canton named Woodcreek Homes. This development is made up of 60 rehabilitated and newly constructed units available to low-income homeowners, as part of Canton and Madison County ongoing revitalization efforts.
Currently, MRHA6 is working on Mississippi Region VI RAD, a $57M development of eight sites spread out over nine counties. When completed, over 250 modern, energy-efficient, and affordable homes will be available to low-income families and the elderly in Edwards, Pearl, Hermanville, Port Gibson, Canton, Yazoo, Jackson, and Tchula, Mississippi.
