Non-Elderly Disabled (NED)

Program Description

The Non-Elderly Disabled (NED) program provides assistance to non-elderly persons with disabilities who are currently residing in long-term care facilities. This voucher program is intended to help participants leave the long-term care facility and live independently.

Who is Eligible

  • Must meet Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program eligibility requirements.
  • Non-elderly persons with disabilities who are under the age of 62.
  • Must be referred by MRHA6.

Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH)

Program Description

The HUD-VASH program provides assistance to homeless veterans by combining rental assistance with case management and clinical services. The HUD-VASH program is a partnership between the Veterans Affairs. and MRHA VI. The VA Jackson refers homeless veterans to the HUD-VASH program and provides case management, while MRHA VI administers rental assistance to eligible veterans.

Who Is Eligible

  • Homeless veterans.
  • Must be referred by the VA.

About MRHA VI Waiting Lists

The Mississippi Regional Housing Authority VI (MRHAVI) operates separate waiting lists for the following federal programs:

  • Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8)
  • Project Based Voucher

The average wait for a household to receive a housing voucher is 8 to 10 years.

Certain housing programs require the applicant to be referred to MRHA VI by a supportive service agency. For more information on MRHA VI’s housing programs, please click here.
